UNESCO, UNHCR commemorate Africa Children's Day

he UNESCO Office in Senegal in collaboration with the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, commemorated the Africa Children's Day with an elaborate ceremony that highlighted the challenges facing future leaders of a continent scarred by unending conflicts. The event at Dakar's Maison de la Culture Douta Seck, brought together more than 200 refugee children and their parents from eight African countries - Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Mauritania, Rwanda and Sierra Leone. Book Fair for Professionals and Students

A Book Fair for Professionals and Students jointly organized by DICORAMA and Direction du Livre et de la Lecture took place at CESAG (Centre Africain d’Etudes Supérieures en Gestion) in May 8 – 12, 2007. It was a book sale during which UNESCO/BREDA distributed various publications such as EFA Global Monitoring Report 2007; 2006 Africa EFA Report; EDUCAIDS: Towards a Comprehensive Education Sector Response: a Framework for Action; Act, Learn and Teach: Theatre, HIV and AIDS Toolkit for Youth in Africa; UNESCO & Human Rights Education; Bonnes pratiques de resolution non-violente de conflits en milieu éducatif formel et non-formel, etc.

Fifth Session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST)
