EFA
National Coordinators Meeting
UNESCO, Paris, September 17-19, 2001
Information Note
I. Date and Venue
The
UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Africa (BREDA), in collaboration
with the World bank, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA and other key partners,
will convene the EFA National Co-ordinators Meeting at UNESCO Headquarters
in Paris, Fontenoy building, 7 Place de Fontenoy, from 17 to 19
September 2001, in Room II.
II.
Objectives
The
aim of this meeting is to facilitate the preparation of the EFA
National Plans of Action and to strengthen synergies among partners.
More specifically, the meeting will:

Assess progress achieved by Member States of the region in the preparation
of EFA National Plans of Action;
· Review the Draft Regional Action Plan;
· Develop regional mechanisms for EFA follow-up;
· Promote Collaboration with Development partners
III.
Participants
EFA
National Coordinators of the forty-six Member States in sub-Saharan
Africa, representatives of multilateral and bilateral agencies,
representatives of civil society are expected to attend the meeting.

VI.
Financial Arrangement
The
organizers will provide all the EFA National Coordinators with an
economy class round-trip air ticket from the international airport
nearest to the coordinators' office/institution to Charles de Gaulle
or Orly Airport (Paris). An air ticket will be sent to each coordinator.
An amount of per-diem at approved UN rates will be provided to all
the Coordinators in Paris.

Climate
It
is often sunny and warm in Paris in September (18-22° C).
IX.
Entry Formalities
In
general, nationals of the sub-Saharan countries invited to the meeting
require a visa for France. Each participant is kindly requested
to contact the French Embassy or Consulate in his or her country
for all information regarding visa requirements. In order to facilitate
the application for a visa, a verbal note of UNESCO-BREDA addressed
to the French Embassy has been sent to all the EFA National Coordinators.
X. Important Notice: Preparatory Work
(a)
Each EFA National Coordinator is kindly requested to fill out the
Brief survey on country progress toward the preparation and execution
of Education for All National Action Plans and send it by email
or fax to UNESCO BREDA no later than 31th August 2001 to:

Each participants is kindly requested to study and send his/her
written comment, if any, on the Draft Regional Action Plan and the
Proposal For a Regional EFA Forum by email or fax to UNESCO BREDA
no later than 7th September 2001 to :
(c)Those
who are asked to make a presentation are kindly requested to bring
their papers and software developed and tested with 3.5 inch MS-DOS
formatted floppy diskette or CD-ROM containing them. It is preferable
that the text is recorded in MS-Word on MS-Windows.
An IBM PC/AT compatible computer connected to such presentation
equipment as projector is available.
