Microprogramme integrating Information and Communication Technologies
in Education
Yaounde-Cameroon,
28 April - 3 May, 2003


From 28 April to 3 May,2003, the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) organised in Yaounde, Cameroon, a Diploma programme called « Microprogramme integrating Information and Communication Technologies in Education»

The training took place at the « Centre de Calcul » of the University of de Yaounde I under the supervision of three trainers :

  • Prof. Thierry Karsenti, Ph.D, University de Montreal (Canada), main trainer.
  • Prof. Colette Gervais, Professeur, University de Montreal.
  • M. Normand Roy, researcher, Université de Montréal

Participants

A total of thirty Cameroonian professors and researchers have been selected from the following institutions to participate in the training : Higher Teachers’ College (Ecole Normale Superieure), Faculty of Science of the University of Yaounde I, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Higher Education, and the Cosendai Adventist University of Nanga Eboko.

The training was officially opened by Prof. Jean TABI MANGA, Rector of the University of Yaounde I.

Presentation du microprogramme

The microprogramme which has been especially designed for IICBA by the University of Montreal is a one-year graduate programme giving to teachers access to higher education. During the training, the participants were initiated to Information and Communication Technologies that they will integrate in their teaching approach.
At the end of the training ( April, 2004), the participants will receive a diploma from the University of Montreal

Objectives of the microprogramme

For the biennium 2002-2003, the Institute aims at « strengthening the capacities in the utilisation of information and communication technologies in education according to the economic modalities and in conformity to the users’ resources ». And it is in this framework that the microprogramme, designed by the University of Montreal, has been organised. The specific objectives of the microprogramme are as follows :

  • Target individual and collective training that take into account the requirements and the needs in improving the teaching practice, mainly through educational integration of the information and communication technologies.

  • Support individual and collective training in educational integration of the information and communication technologies that can be transferable in the teaching practice .

  • Prepare the participant to better integrate the information and communication technologies in his teaching practice.

  • Promote the continuation of higher education till achieving a post-graduate diploma in education or a Master’s in education.
