A center for excellence in Education and vocational training integrating the NTIC in the community of Fass Delorme

The BOKK JANK/BOKK JEF- Senegal association saw the day in September 1997 in Dakar and its intervention relies on the principle of volunteering in the pursuit of its ideals of solidarity and the sharing of relevant know-how for the benefit of women and children. In the local community of FASS-DELORME, this association is intending to develop with the support of UNESCO's Communication and Information programme (CI) a center of excellence in education and vocational training that integrates the NTIC as a learning tool. We took our visitors to the center to allow them to witness the current state of the project.

The Center for Vocational Education and Training integrating the NTIC is hosted in the premises of the socio-cultural center of the district. The complex offers various services to the neighborhood. On this picture, we can see the office of the social worker who helps women's groups in the district.

The health center provides basic health care while also raising the awareness of residents on MSTs, AIDS, and preventive hygienic practices.

We are now in the training room for the new technologies of information and communication (NTIC): 10 youth have already been trained in order to be able to provide IT support later. The Logo Micro Mondes langage for the learning of programming was generously offered by the Logo Computer System from Canada. A survey is currently under way at the site of the project, which will give a profile of the first students coming out of the training center. The elderly in the district repainted the center. At last, the classes can begin!
