Follow-up to the Second Conference on Technical and Vocational Education

Workshop on the follow-up to the Second Conference on Technical and Vocational Education (SEOUL, April 1999) and the implementation of the recommendations. Yaounde, Cameroon, April 2001

Organized jointly by the UNESCO Office in Yaounde, the UNESCO Office in Dakar, BREDA, and in partnership with the UNESCO National Commission for Cameroon, the workshop gathered in Yaounde the heads of technical and vocational schools from Cameroon, Congo, Chad, Gabon and Central Africa.

The following four themes were chosen for this workshop:

  • Self-funding techniques for technical and vocational schools;
  • The safety of goods and people in secondary schools for technical and vocational education;
  • The maintenance of equipment in technical and vocational schools;
  • The strategies and practical modalities for a sub-regional co-operation aimed at developing technical and vocational education.

Prior to the workshop, training modules were specially developed in the areas of maintenance, self-funding and the safety of goods and people.

Following this meeting, the various training modules will be finalized in order to be spread amongst participating and non-participating countries in the region.

Participants are also expected to make recommendations on strategies for sub-regional co-operation between technical and vocational schools in the participating countries and the creation of a sub-regional co-operation network in areas of mutual interest, if need be.
