UNESCO, UNICEF and PANAPRESS are jointly organizing
a workshop for journalists specialized in education from February
18-22, 2002. 10 African countries are expected to send participants:
Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire,
Liberia, Kenya, Mali, Mauritius, Senegal, and Zambia.

This workshop is in direct relation with the
recommendations of the World Forum on Education for All held
in Dakar in April 2000, during which African governments collectively
committed to reach the objectives of the Dakar Framework for
Action.

Thus, the use of the new technologies of information
and communication (NTIC) constitutes a tool of choice in order
to reach EFA goals.

That is why the United Nations system in general,
and UNESCO and UNICEF in particular have, in collaboration
with PANAPRESS, organized a media coverage campaign whose
first phase is the training of journalists about educational
concepts.

There will be various presentations on the strategies to
promote girls' education and to increase awareness about
HIV/AIDS within Africa's education systems.
