8th MINEDAF opens in Dar es
Salaam, Tanzania
The
8th conference of Education Ministers of African Member States (MINEDAF)
has officially opened in Dar Es-Salaam, Tanzania focusing on challenges
facing education in Africa.
The forum would also reflect on commitments to action within the framework
of the New Partnership Africa's Development (NEPAD).
The
opening ceremony was chaired by President Benjamin William Mpaka of
Tanzania in the presence of UNESCO director general Koichiro Matsuura.
Also in attendance was the interim chairman of the African Union Commission,
Amara Essy and UNICEF executive director Carol Bellamy.
