Training on basic Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT)

Niamey - Niger, 23 September - 2 October 2003

The UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building (IICBA), Dakar Node, organised abasic training on ICT from 23 September to 2 October , 2003 in Niamey, Niger. This training was addressed to 15 young participants from the following junior and senior secondary schools in Niamey.

The training took place at the Centre de Coordination de l'Informatique et des Nouvelles Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication (CCINT) , the government body responsible for national ICT policy in Niger

Objective of the training
The training was given by Ms. Raki Bal, of the IICBA Node in Dakar and its objective was to initiate young students from junior and senior secondary schools to basic notions of computer science:

  • Basic knowledge of the computer
    . knowledge of the keyboard
    . utilisation of the mouse
    . knowledge of the main menu, saving a diskette etc…

  • Basic knowledge of text processing
    . create, open and save files

  • Communications on Internet
    . navigating on Internet
    . utilisation of search engines
    . creation of e-mails etc.

  • Softwares
    . Word 2000
    . Excel 2000
    . PowerPoint 2000
