The two men expressed their satisfaction with on-going cooperation between Guinea and UNESCO as well as their commitment to work towards its reinforcement. A number of issues were tabled for discussion during the encounter namely: education for all, the lack of teachers, as well as HIV/ AIDS prevention.

Mr. Matsuura also held discussions with Mr. Aboubacar Somparé, President of the Guinean Parliament, as well as other top members of the Guinean government namely those in charge of education, scientific research, tourism, hotels, arts and crafts. He later met with the depositor of the Sosso Bala traditional Balafon, an instrument proclaimed by UNESCO as a masterpiece of intangible heritage in 2001, and then visited a community primary school, fruit of Japanese cooperation, located in the Enta Sud Fassa Neighbourhood within the Matoto Community.
