Model

BREDA, together
with other agencies and bodies of the United Nations' system represented
in Senegal, the UNESCO Clubs and the Senegal National Commission for UNESCO,
will organize a Model United Nations (MUN) from February 21 -23,
2001.
The MUN is
a simulation of the United Nations' System in action. It consists of role
pay in which the participants represent the Member States' of the UN.
The participants,
called "Delegates" in a Model United Nations, resort to diplomacy and
negotiation in order to find solutions for problems currently on the agenda
of the United Nations and affecting the international community.
They cover
issues such as peace and international security, human rights, economic
and social development, environment, etc.
The MUN is
an interactive and interesting learning experience for all its participants.
For more than half a century now, MUNs have had an enormous success with
about 200 000 pupils and students from all over the world taking part
annually. So far, on the African continent, only Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius
and Zambia have organised MUN conferences.
